Durante el trigésimo sexto período de sesiones de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), que tuvo lugar en Ciudad de México del 23 al 27 de mayo de 2016, los Estados miembros aprobaron la resolución 700(XXXVI), resolución de México por la que se creó el Foro de los Países de América Latina y el Caribe sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible como mecanismo regional para el seguimiento y examen de la implementación y seguimiento de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible, los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), sus metas, sus medios de implementación y la Agenda de Acción de Addis Abeba sobre el Financiamiento para el Desarrollo. Posteriormente, el Consejo Económico y Social de las Naciones Unidas hizo suya la creación del Foro mediante la aprobación de su resolución 2016/12.
Para sociedad civil y otros actores relevantes, el registro de participantes en línea cerrará el 15 de marzo de 2020.

During the thirty-sixth session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), held in Mexico City from 23 to 27 May 2016, member States adopted resolution 700(XXXVI), resolution of Mexico establishing the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development as a regional mechanism for the follow-up and review of the implementation and monitoring of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), means of implementation and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development. Subsequently, the United Nations Economic and Social Council endorsed the creation of the Forum by adopting its resolution 2016/12.
For civil society representatives and other relevant stakeholders, online registration will close on 15 March 2020.
